Transforming insurance with AR
Created by Via Directa, ok! seguros is a leading insurance company. Supported by new technologies and aiming to ensure quality services to their customers, they are always looking for ways to make insurance simple, accessible, and innovative. Aligned with its purpose, we were challenged to improve their existing inspection app and build on new features.
Goal
Following their mission to simplify their products and create a differentiated customer experience, ok! seguros challenged us to improve their existing photo car inspection app and add a new augmented reality experience. The goal was to create an app with a seamless user experience and interface, saving users’ time and giving them more autonomy when managing their car inspection and accident reports.
Research and concept development
To design the interface of the new augmented reality experience, we focused on the research of traditional UI and other applications using this kind of technology. To define the interface’s concept, we studied how to display information in a 3D environment and guide and inform the user about location, progress, and elements’ scale. A gamification and technological feel would make the AR experience more recognizable and add a sense of achievement from the user’s perspective. We designed and analyzed different vehicle silhouettes using Origami Studio for the photo inspection feature. The main challenge was finding an agnostic design that would work with different vehicle types and sizes. After researching, prototyping, and testing, we were able to reach the optimal solution.
Creating the interface style guide
After understanding and defining the experience’s concept, we created the interface style guide. This guide included all the app’s flows elements, like buttons, pop-ups, iconography, and animated illustrations.
Flows iteration and user guidance
Using the interface style guide, we started wireframing and iterating the video and photo inspection flows.
As a one-shot digital experience, we had to simplify the complexity of the inspection process, making it intuitive, accessible, and easy to use. To guide the user through the experience, we used micro animations and coach marks. This way, we could offer context to the users and accurately explain each step of the process.
Video tests, implemented in close collaboration with the development team for the augmented reality experience, helped us understand users’ pain points and improvement opportunities.
Design a friendly chat interface
We designed a new feature where users can claim a car accident right through the app. We transformed the generic claim form into a humanoid chat interface that simplifies the experience and guides the user through the required information, making it more user-friendly.
Adapting and designing an agnostic look and feel
Aligned with Via Directa’s purpose of creating a product that could be used by different insurance companies, we created a customized library for the app’s look and feel. This way, a more versatile interface makes it possible for each company to incorporate their brand into the app.
