This digital revelation, under the theme “Connect North,” celebrates Volkswagen Digital Solutions’ commitment to tech talent and solution development for the Volkswagen Group in the northern region of Portugal.
Volkswagen Digital Solutions (VWDS), a technological hub based in Portugal that develops next-generation innovations for the Volkswagen Group, is launching a campaign in collaboration with WYgroup to announce its arrival in Oporto. VWDS isn’t just opening a new office in Portugal; it’s celebrating a convergence between tradition and the future, forming a unique connection that embodies the brand’s spirit. This was the starting point for VWDS’s bold entry into northern Portugal.
The German Group’s technological hub, which comprises around 30 nationalities and consists of three tech units in Lisbon – CODE, SDC, and MAN Digital Hub – announces its expansion to Porto and the opening of its first office outside the capital, marking the company’s fourth location.
With a coordinated digital and offline strategy in two phases, the campaign began with an initial teaser moment that, using the FOOH trend (faux out of home), communicated that “Something big is about to happen.” In a second phase, the revelation of this opening was made through an activation that projected lines of code onto the facades of landmark buildings in the city of Oporto. These lines of code also served to create a musical interpretation present throughout the campaign.

To develop this campaign announcing VWDS’s investment in Oporto, the company partnered with WYgroup agencies to devise a strategy to welcome Porto and announce a brand awareness campaign for this new location. WYcreative was responsible for creativity, NERVO for activation, and WYperformance WYperformance for media strategy.
“The campaign focuses on merging the company’s technological innovation with the strong cultural heritage of the northern region. Since we have previously worked with WYgroup on digital recruitment campaigns, we were familiar with the dedication and creativity they put into each project. This ‘Connect North’ campaign brings us closer to our target audience, the tech talent present in the northern region of the country, in the most engaging way possible,” explains Rui Martins, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen Digital Solutions.
“The campaign sought to integrate traditional elements of Oporto with the inherent technology of the client, connecting architecture with code language. We used music produced by a DJ who constructs sound through code for this purpose, as well as focusing on an aspect fully aligned with trends of using virtual and augmented reality, integrating 3D visual elements into real projections such as Casa da Música, Torre dos Clérigos, or Ponte Dom Luís, iconic elements of Oporto. The final result emerged from collaborative work among all teams,” explains Carlos Pontes, creative director of WYcreative.
